Sudden, sharp pains in my heart?

Sometimes, I get really sudden, sharp pains in my heart. I eat very healthy (in truth, I don't like a lot of fatty foods) and exercise plenty, so I don't think it's that.

They don't last very long, and aren't an "all the time" thing, but the pain is noticeable. I've been under a lot of stress lately, could that be causing this?

Yah know, ASK.COM, and this means you MODS, it never ceases to amaze me that you let stuff like this just roll off the page. Someone experiencing potential life threatening issues should be directed to a DOCTOR. Delete me or ban me, but do you really just sit still for this? What's the policy ...

People can still ask about it though, because there might be others who have had similar experiences, or if they are lucky maybe someone who has a medical background will answer. A lot of people don't have insurance, and can't afford to go running to the doctor every time they have an ache or pain, so they'll ask first to get an idea - doesn't mean that they expect that the answers given will all be 100% accurate.

As to Ask policy - it states somewhere in the TOS that we all use this site at our own risk. So one would hope that those asking these sorts of questions would still use their own judgement, and seek medical attention as needed.

Yah fair enough Sephira - on a certain level I can agree with you. I get that your policy is what it is. But one of these days ..... and you *totally* know what I'm sayin' ...

That's why I always tack on a "see your doctor", or something to my answers. Because while I do have somewhat of a health related background, I don't want people to just take my word for it, plus I try not to answer anything that I don't have at least some experience or knowledge of (unless I have a really good resource to back it up).

I know someone who had similar symptoms and had his circulatory, respiratory and digestive systems checked out. All came back normal. It turns out it was anxiety. Patient has been better since being on a mild anxiety medication. Go to a Dr to be on the safe side but don't cause yourself to have an anxiety attack waiting! lol!

How do they check out circulatory, respiratory and digestive systems exactly?
I tend to have problems and always wondered if there was something wrong or just me being paranoid, but I wasn't sure how they did the tests and was too afraid to go to a doctor. Do you know anything about it?
Report as
@angel, yes they started out with blood work, then moved on to ultra sounds of the gallbladder, liver and heart. They x-rayed his lungs. When those tests came back normal they offered him a "stress test" for his heart. I have heard it done for some people where they put the patient on a treadmill to monitor the stress on their heart but for the person I am speaking of they actually injected him with a heart stimulant and a dye which they were able to watch how well his heart worked.

I have never heard of them running all those test on people here, but perhaps it is because I have never known anyone who has had had those tests before. I could imagine it'd cost a fortune though but I may need to have these things checked out, unless of course my heart problems are all stress related (because I stress A LOT!) but then again, I guess the docs could confirm that.

Good luck to you my friend. You can not put a price tag on your health. :0)
The drs will want to eliminate things first. This patient went to the ER with chest pains last would not go away for about a day/day and a half. I am sure you will be OK. :0)

Thank you =)
Hahah xD Yeah that's true, I can't put a price on it ^_^
Ohh... I see. Perhaps I should just see how I go, and if things get worse, then I'll look into it all further =D

Even professional athletes who have strict diets can still end up with heart problems, and at a young age as well.
I'd recommend consulting a doctor about it in case there is something wrong (which I sure hope not), but you's want to know for sure if it is normal.
Admittedly I have had something similar happen to me. The sharp pain pops up at random but is only there for a short moment and then leaves again but I never thought anything of it. It hasn't happened in a while, and never occurred to me that something could be wrong, but I guess I should look into it as well.

Even if you are relatively healthy, you could still have an underlying heart condition, so if it's something that is happening on a somewhat regular basis then you should definitely get checked out by your doctor. Stress could still be a factor, but it's still better to talk to your doctor about it, just in case.

Healthy food can cause gas. I have the same symptoms.
