It depends on how much time you have to take care of it and how much you're willing to spend. If you have a good amount of time and money to spend, then I'd suggest a cat or dog (cats don't require as much responsibility as a dog, but they're more independent). If you don't have as much time or money, then you should get a more minor pet like a fish or a bunny.
That depends on what you want. Do you want a companion that will take a lot of work then a dog is perfect for you. Do you want a cuddly animal that you can play with when you want to and forget about when you want to then a hamster is good for you. Do you want an animal that is cool to look at, easy to take care of, and fun to play with then get a leopard gecko. If you want an animal that takes minimal work that you can look at when you want to then get a fish.
If you like to wrestle and be tough, but also gentle, a dog, maybe a mastiff, would be awesome for you. If you're busy all the time, a small dog, like a corgi, would be good for you. If you're just looking for a friend to hang out with, get a mixed dog and see how that works. Go to the pound and look around.
If you don't want a dog, there aren't many pets in which you can be rough with. But, if you're gentle, a cat, hamster, or sugar glider would be perfect. They do require a lot of attention, though.
If you still don't want any of those, I'd recommend a hermit crab. They are expensive at first, but easy to take care of. If you need hermit crab help, go here:
