What did Columbus force the "Indians" to do?

What kind of work were they forced to do?

Report as

He possibly forced them to come to Europe so that he could show them to the queen. Other than that, there is not much else. There were a lot more Indians then Europeans and Columbus did not actually establish any colonies but simply claimed the land for Spain. When the other explorers came, they saw the pristine forests and abundant animals. At the time, Europe had been deforested and few people ate meat because it was too expensive. Here were all these resources free for the taking. But to collect resources required manpower. Europe had a tradition of serfdom, where the lower classes worked for the upper classes. In a new land, such distinctions are not institutionalized so you can BECOME an elite just by claiming it. Even better, god has put these savages on the land to help you make your fortune. Life is good! But Columbus really had nothing to do with any of this. Till the day he died, he thought that he had discovered the outlying islands that would lead him to the Orient.

The Cherokee Nation.. is now kicking members out if their Great grandparents names are not on the Dawes List... if their name is not listed... they won't accept you into the tribe...if . you are already a member ?.. they will '' Dis- Enroll '' you.. just like they did to the Freeman.. they are half.. '' Hasapa''/ Cherokee.. they are no longer welcomed into the Cherokee Tribe...
Report as
The point is... your name HAS to be on the Dawes list.
