If it is a newer car & the car's computer system relies on the battery -- yes, disconnecting the battery will reset the computer.

Your welcome.
I was just going to replace the battery in my mom's car & save her a little $$, but her car's computer system is connected, so she had to go to the dealer. They temporarily hook the car's computer to another power source so it doesn't lose all its info.
....Sigh.... why can't changing a battery be as simple as 2 cables, as it used to be? Computers everywhere!

did u recently drive through heavy rain or a car wash, sometimes it causes the wires to short. I had a blazer that would do it. I just unhooked the horn.

What make model and year is it? Alot of times if you take the key and put it in the door lock with the door closed and lock the door and unlock it that will fix it. If you have a keyless entry use that to lock then unlock the car/truck. Its way to hard to say without knowing any info on the vehicle.
