Why do you boil water when someone's about to give birth
I don't know if that's still done, but at a hone birth boiling water would be used to sterilize things.
Basically to wash the baby. You boil the water to be sure all the contaminants are gone.
It gives the extra non participants something to do and out of the way.
The doctor tells the husband to boil water so that he is out of the way when the baby is born
It's to keep you out of the way so baby birthing can be done
Boiling water is used to sterilize sheets and towels used (after they cool) to clean and swaddle the baby and clean up the mother.
