Help!!! I'm starting to fail intro to chemistry and spainish

I get the materiel the teachers are teaching, I just seem to blank when we have tests

Dear Hawkhill,

My understanding is that your situation is not that uncommon...someone knows the material and can do the work, but freezes on tests.

It is very possible your teachers are aware this happens with some people. Start out by talking with them, and see what they say...with luck, they might even have some alternatives available for you.

If not, then you need to keep looking...talking to your principal, a school counselor if one is available...don't just go along in silence; you need your education.

This happened with a good friend of mine at the University of Washington in 1962-66, and even then his teachers were able to make accommodation for him. He went on to become a successful chemical engineer, and even became a professor at a major university in Canada.

Good luck; I know this can be just agonizing.

I don't know, I can get nearly perfect grades on all of the homework and worksheets and then freeze up on tests

Use quia.com for Spanish (no account needed) or ask your teachers for a tutor.

Look, it was just a mistake I can spell it fine if I wasn't in a hurry so honestly I bet you couldn't spell Como te llamas if I told you to spell it
Report as
I would have left out the second 'l' for sure, lol.
Report as
llamas is spelled with to "l's"

I saw that in your comment but if I had been asked to spell it I would have used just one, lol.

Oh I see what you mean, sorry I thought you were saying that it only had one

Naw, I am admitting to be a poor speller. lol...
But I blame that on the public school system.
We were a failed experimental group in the '60s.
Taught the 'See Say' method.
No phonics!
I learned what I know about spelling when my children were learning phonics in the Christian Elementary school.
I also write down words I use here and spell check to study later.
I have discovered it to be quite helpful at times.
The initial lack of correct training at that early age causes it to be a struggle however.
Same with math.
We did not learn math facts, but to count on our fingers.
Stupid!
Again, I learned how easy math is, and how it progresses from fact to fact, with my children's homework.
I bought some of the work books for myself and learned the basics quite easily.

Have someone grill you. Question and you try to answer rapid style. This will help make the material come to your mind faster and more naturally during the tests.

Study, study, study when it comes to tests. Make some flash-cards with the questions on the front and answers on the back. They will make everything much easier :)

Find out your studying style by taking online quizzes to find out what type of learner you are and that can help you improve. For Spanish, buy Pimsleur cds so that you can learn Spanish quickly and you can be ahead of everybody. Pimsleur is a Language learning program that can teach you a language in ten days just by listening to the cds for 30 min. a day. You know when you were like a baby and you start learning the language that your parents speak? It's like that.

You must put more effort. That helped me.
(Note: If you are really having trouble, maybe just ask your teacher for advice."

If they can swing the time some teachers will let you do a test orally.
But how to get over this, I agree with Virginia, you need to let them know and find some accommodations to your learning style.
