Someone's appearance can say a lot about them. For example, if I see a woman wearing 4 inch high stilettos, a skirt that an 11 year could fit in, and a shirt that's showing plenty more cleavage than a decent woman should, I'm going to assume she's a tramp. Though it may be a misunderstanding, maybe I could be wrong. But her appearance shows her out to be that way. If you look like trash, people will think that you ARE trash. Appearance seems to be everything in this day-in-age.
Clothing expresses your individuality and you. If u walk around with not brushed hair and not clean clothes, people are gonna think it a hobo or not a clean person. All I'm saying is your appearance shows how you handle yourself kinda
It has to do with our society and social standards as well as genes. Like our brains see a handsome man and we believe him to be more friendly or smarter, in any way superior to the less handsome looking weather it's true or not. It's just a survival technique. As for how you look, like if your dirty or smell bad or your boobs are hanging out you just look like you don't.take care of yourself or you don't take yourself seriously. And say you're wearing nice clean clothing that's up to date with fashion and fits correctly you look more likely to come from a wealthy family. Just our brains picking and choosing and assuming things is natural. Of course you can always re teach your mind :)
People's first impressions are almost always visual (if they are meeting in person) - that's because the visual sense is almost immediate while other opinions take longer to formulate. There's a new website called http://standdout.com that is trying to determine what kind of 1st impression people are making via their photographs. You can choose 1 photo and then select adjectives for the community to vote on (in essence you can find out if you are coming across in the way you have intended). You can also post 2 pictures Side by Side and then have people tell you which one they like better. It's a brand new site that is very interesting. It is being marketed towards online daters (that's how I found it), but it is something that we all think about: How am I coming across?
