I'm having probs my hw the problem is 3.7=-.21w. If someone could explain how to find the answer and show my work that would be great

I've been absent most of the week so I don't know the instructions

Ok you want to get the W alone on one side of the equals sign. The way to do it is to do the opposite of its connection to the sides its on. In this case it is -.21timesW, the opposite of multiplication is division so if you divide -.21 from both sides you will get w alone.
3.7=-.21w divide both sides by -.21
3.7/-.21 =w simplify the fraction to get
-17(13/21) = w

How did you get that last line?

Ok good question. I didnt mean to skip steps.
From 3.7/-.21 mutliply the top and bottom numbers by ten until both the numerator and the denomenator are whole numbers.
(3.7/-.21)*(10/10) =37/-2.1 the numerator is a whole number but the denomenator is not. Let's multiply them both by ten again.
(37/-2.1)(10/10) = 370/-21 Ok! now both numbers are whole numbers so when we divide 370/-21 and only look at the number to the left of the decimal we get 17. Now we need to solve for the remainder. 17*-21 equals -357, which we add to the orignal 370 to give 13 which is the remaining numerator and the denominator is -21. I admit it is a bit convuluted but it worked. Is this confusing? Do you have any questions?

It looks complicated, but doing it is a lot easier than explaining it. Try it out. I think you will agree it is easy.

3.7 = -.21w
/-.21 /-.21
w = - 370/21
