How do decomposers benefit an ecosystem

Report as

Decomposers convert dead material to detritus which is eaten by detritivores in the process decomposition releases nutrients that can be used by prime producers.

All in all decomposers recycle nutrients in a food web and without them nutrients would remain trapped I'm dead organisms :)

They return the basic materials like carbon dioxide and nitrates to the ecosystem, to be used by other organisms. The decomposers also recycle nutrients, that way everything can absorb/digest them and use them again.
