Because the profession of law is a wide field there are a variety of necessary skills and some are less utilized depending on the specialization. A few skills that benefit lawyers across the profession include: ability to empathize, ability to objectively analyze, ability to articulate an analysis, ability to advocate, attention to detail and strong reading skills.
