What are the biggest things colleges are looking for when it comes to recruiting athletes?

I'm six feet and 2 inches and 14 years old. I get all A's and the occasional B on my report cards. I work really hard in the gym and earn everything fair and square. I would like to play college basketball, but I'd like to know how to make myself stand out more than the other athletes. Any suggestions?

You can research the colleges you are interested in and write letters to their athletic department directors expressing interest in their athletic (basketball) program, that will get your name in the mind, and update them annually with your progress, keep doing well with academics; take and re-take the ACT or SAT and get your scores as high as you can; see if they have basketball college showcases at any schools where you go to a particular college, sign up and go to those to get your name out there and for them to see you; practice, practice some more and do the best you can, always. Good Luck!
