Does wood hold scent?

I was wondering because I was going to use it for part of my traps, but if they hold scent I wont use it.

Unfotuneately, yes. I recently bought a house and when I used a carpet cleaner in the living room it released the smell of animal urine...it wouldn't go away. So I ripped up all the carpet and padding and threw it away but the smell was in the wood of the flooring. There's a product called kilz at most hardware stores that you put on the wood like paint and it prevents the smell from coming out. The bad part is it looks like white paint...but that didn't matter because the floor was then covered with new carpet.

Most woods do have a scent.
