Report as

It's what a worm does...it can basically splits in two pieces...and BAM...you have two worms. (Yes...oversimplified explanation there)

In order for you to understand what that is, you must first understand what sexual reproduction is. Sexual reproduction is where two creatures both contribute DNA to create a new creature. Asexual reproduction simply means reproduction that isn't sexual. So basically, it's when a creature reproduces on it's own, rather than two creatures reproducing.

I am sorry to interrupt but just feel that i should make a slight modification.. Well two creatures dont contribute " dna" to the new creature. Its their sperm and ovum fuses and forms the zygote by meiosis. Then the cells divide by mitosis to form embryo, fetus then a matured living being... DNA replication ( consevative, semi- conservative/ dispersive) occurs during the mitosis of the cell division. This is when the DNA divides you can say to the new cells

That depends on the creature. While that would be true for many creatures, for many fungi, and all microorganisms, that would be incorrect. The thing that separates asexual reproduction from sexual reproduction is the DNA contribution.

*reading my comment again, I feel the need to reword it for clarity.

That depends on the creature. While your statement is true for many creatures, it is not for all. For many fungi, and all microorganisms, that would be incorrect. The thing that separates asexual reproduction from sexual reproduction is the DNA contribution.

Reproducing without a partner/intercourse. Fungi are prone to this.

Asexual reproduction is when there is a cell division occurs by the process of mitosis. In this way , the daughter cells have the diploid no. Of chrimosomes ( identical to parent cell). In asexual reproduction,, all the offsprings share the identical traits as parents
