it's called the affordable healthcare act because that's exactly what it is,a law to help people be able to afford healthcare.because of the very high number of people who cannot afford the ridiculously high prices of health insurance, those who can't afford it get more help from the govt. than they used to and Obama is trying to help the less fortunate much to the disapproval of rich politicians who only care about $$$
It's intended to make health care more affordable. Time will tell if it does. Usually private sector things the govt infuses a lot of money in tend to go up steeply in price over time. For example, college tuition rates were flatlined until the pell grant system started. Since then they have far outpaced interest. We shall see soon enough.
In answer to your (now deleted) previous question. I expect that I will be one if those people who will die sooner then I likely would have due to ACA. I have a few ongoing medical issues. I do everything I can to take care of myself but I'm aware that if not for the medications/doctors I likely wouldn't be alive now. Our premiums have already skyrocketed and I'm waiting for the letter dropping us.
