My friend lost her original birth certificate. Is there a way that she can get another one?

Yeah, she lost it and now she doesn't know how to get another one. And neither do I. She don't even have any copies. So, is there a way that she can get another one? How can she get one? And where does she have to go to get one? Please let me know right away. Thanks.

She needs to contact the appropriate government agency where she was born, and apply for a duplicate birth certificate.
Here is a site with links for the different states:

Is there a way she can get one even though she wasn't born in California? She is from New York.

She needs to get in touch with the New York agency that issues birth certificates. They should be able to mail her one, but it will cost a few dollars.

Department of vital statistics. There's usually an office in your local health department. If she's in the town she was born she can get a copy right away. If she was born out of town it may take a couple days/weeks. Tell Hewett to be sure she takes property ID with her. Cost is less than $10 in most states

They'll fax it right there in the office. Take SS card, Driver License or State ID

My friend was born in New York. And now she lives in California. How would she get one from another state without going there? Is there a way?

She can apply in the state she lives in and vital statistics will contact the state she was born. They'll verify jet info and out will be mailed to her in about a week

I think she has to go to the hospital she was born in and apply for a new one. Either that or they'll tell her where she can go and how to get it.

She can contact the hospital where she was born and obtain a certified copy of her Birth Certificate... The Department of Vital Statistics is the agency a person would contact to obtain a Death Certificate, they do not have Birth Certificates on file... The only information there is her full name and the date of her birth, contained on an enormous database...

The office of vital statistics handles birth and death certificates. They provide a state certified copy. To get a copy of the original hospital certificate she would contact the hospital but it is not an official one

Thank you for your comment... Of course the hospital would not have an 'original' because it was lost however, they provide a certified copy to replace the original... I stand by my post... Enjoy your day...
