What would be the best supplement to take for boosting your immune system?

i was at the store and i saw several that claimed to boost your immune system, but im not sure of which one to get. ill be honest, i am trying supplements so that i can get rid of a nasty virus that ive had for years. will any of these supplements help?

Instead of starting with supplements, which are now claimed to be unnecessary, start by taking a multivitamin such as "Centrum" which contains all the vitamins and minerals a person requires on a daily basis... If you still feel the need to take supplements, go to a store such as GNC or Whole Foods and inquire within... I don't understand why you've had a 'nasty virus' for years... Doesn't your doctor know what it is? Be careful with Zinc, taking too much affects the central nervous system... I hope you feel better...

Zinc, C, D, a full supplement is best.

You may want to look into an herbal bacteria killer such as bur
bur and banderol in the nutramedix line. D is valuable for overall immune system and perhaps get your blood tested to see if you have any deficiencies. I was anemic so I take Iron, B complex, D, C can be good too. Also, eat more WHOLE foods, meaning, fruits and veggies that are organic. :)

My advice is to take the BICeuticals ANTI-OX EXCEL (manufactured in Australia). It is an outstanding herbal and mineral based capsule filled with a wide range of vitamins and nutrients. One a day provides a comprehensive antioxidant and free radical scavenger formula. I used to be prone to nasty coughs and flu and these capsules along with a good diet and exercise, have worked together to buildt up my immunity,.

My advice comes from my mother who is a certified health coach, we take colloidal silver (Sovereign brand http://www.sovereignsilver.info/ but there are many brands and you can even make your own) 2-3 times a day, Cod liver oil once a day (and a cup of orange juice to take away the live oil flavor) and we hardly eat any sugar. We RARELY get sick.

Rings the bell, I used to be a really skinny kid and our nurse had me take Cod liver oil and suck on an orange afterwards. I think she thought I was a little unhealthy. I was always energetic so maybe it worked. I took that stuff every morning.

A couple of natural alternatives are Elderberry syrup (Sambucus nigra) and a tea made from Yerba Santa leaves (Eriodictyon californicum). They are both anti-viral boosters with high vitamin C (elderberry) and lots of antioxidants. Yerba santa is good for the respiratory system and will help fight off the flu as well. Enjoy them---they're nature's medicine!

Go oldschool and don't shower everyday, wash your hands too much or be afraid of germs.

The immune system needs practice and people nowadays are too obsessive about cleanliness

Dude, think before you speak. You can't even use proper grammar and spelling right. Dr is an abbreviation for doctor, as well.

I would recommend just doing it the natural way; fruits and veggies. Try just making smoothies at first if you find it too hard to eat the fruits and veggies regularly. I havent had a cold or the flu for years and I'm 45 yrs old.

Exercise, get plenty of sleep, eat healthy, soak in some sunlight for some vitamin D, try your best to stay away from people who are sick, and always use proper hygiene. Instead of taking vitamins all the time, you can eat healthy in order to get all the vitamins that your body needs naturally.

go to www.tjclark.com/legendary.html get a bottle of that. take a half a capful in juice for two months, wait for about four months. You will find that not only will all your allergies miraculously "disappear" you will also stop getttin sick. Works amazingly well.

Do NOT drink it straight without juice. It will stain your teeth and is NASTY. Do NOT put it in milk or water. The NASTY will multiply exponentially and you will regret it.

COD LIVER OIL!!! It has been known for centuries by central Asians to treat viruses. Note that it naturally contains vitamin D so you can overdose, so follow the label instructions. I have taken it many times for viruses.

The three major antioxidant vitamins are beta-carotene, vitamin C, and vitamin E which increases the immune power. Vegetable containing these vitamins can be preferred for the better immune power.
