Some computers have fancy and expensive components inside that would not be obvious to someone who was not a computer expert. SSD for example is a high speed non-mechanical hard drive. You can buy a $300 video card that gives you awesome graphics by processing the picture, independent of the CPU. You can also install extra fans for better cooling. This allows you to safely ramp up the processing speed of the computer without frying anything. You can also add high speed memory chips that include heat sink for cooler operation. Keep your operating system free of toolbars and other junk and your computer will run very well for a long time. The computer I am using right now is over 12 years old and still works fine.
