I started my period today

I want to know if there's anything important I need to do. Are there any rules? I am in middle school and I carry my bag with pads wherever I go. I have gotten stained. I wear my pads everyday. I want to know: ?how many times do I need to change pads? ?how can I make my period smell better? ?ways to avoid getting stained? girls are there any other things I need to know/do? please and thank you!!!

Okay...so I would by a vaginal wash....this helps to get rid of bad smell.and take advil for craps ADVIL IS THE BEST!!wear black clothes and a long sweater that will cover your butt area.and keep your pads at your locker!people will try and grab your bag and will eventually find out.....change pads every 3-4....to prevent staining!for sports, ask your mom if you can wear a tampon..... if you have any questions please comment down below! ^.°

Vaginal wash throws off the bodys natural cleaning cycles and ph balance. Good idea if you want a yeast infection.

Yes, which will make you smell worse! Lol

Wear a hoodie and keep your supplies in your pocket. Spray perfume on before school to mask the smell. There are also scented pads. When you feel more comfortable you can start using tampons... they're MUCH cleaner and more convenient. But you might not be able to use them for a while and it takes practice. Everyone "flo" is more or less heavy. Find out how heavy yours typically is and plan your bathroom trips around that. Once you can use tampons you can "double up" and use a pad too just in case there's spillage.

Gotta watch out for the scented pads and tampons because they aren't really good for you, or so I've been told.

When your pad gets full and icky, usually ever hour or so depending on the flow. Chances are, no one else can smell you, but if it makes you feel better you can carry some feminine wipes around with you. And don't forget to drink water, and less soda I find it helps my period be lighter and go faster. Welcome to womanhood xp

It depends on how heavy your "flow" is but with most girls it's two or three times a day, and maybe once at night. You can make it smell better by wearing body sprays, no perfume, but something with a lighter scent maybe, or you could just buy the scented Kotex pads but that usually doesn't work as well. As for the stains.. Wear a pad with wings, or try a thicker kind, and if that doesn't work just wear darker clothes. :)

Wear tampons. You don't feel them if you insert them correctly, and they're cleaner, hygiene wise. MUCH LESS of a chance of staining and leaks.

You could try tampons. They don't hurt ( YOU CAN'T EVEN FEEL THEM! :) ) they come with instructions if your unsure on how to use them and you can buy them smaller if that's what you'd prefer. Wearing a tampon means you don't have to worry about the smell or people seeing your pad outline through your trousers or whilst getting dressed in sport. However, a good thing to keep in mind is that they can leak if kept in for over 5 hours so it's good to wear a pad just in case! Additionally, you don't have to change a tampon as much as you do pads which is great and really convenient. Another thing is that, since you've just started having periods, they can be irregular before they set in and stay the same days of the month. When your periods stop being irregular ( if they become irregular to start with) then it's good to make a note of when they start and end so you can be prepared! You should change your pad when it begins to get heavy. If you find that you have a lot of blood, you can buy pads that are made to absorb more blood so they last longer :) hope this helps :)
