What is good for sinus congestion

due to allergies

Don't use a Neti Pot. Depending on where you live, you can pick up a brain-eating amoeba called, "Naegleria fowleri". If you want to use one, make sure you put the water that you're going to use first, into a pot and boil it, then put the water back into the Neti Pot.

Some other natural remedies:

-Use a humidifier or vaporizer.
-Take long showers or -- very carefully -- breathe in steam from a pot on the stove.
-Drink lots of fluids, which will thin out your mucus and may help prevent your sinuses from getting blocked up.
-Use a nasal saline spray – simple unmedicated salt water – to help prevent your nasal passages from drying out.

With boiled or bottled water the risk of brain-eating amoeba is Zero.
Neti Pot has a warning right on the package not to use tap water.

That's what I just said and some people don't even bother reading the warning label on the package. A few people died from using neti pots with tap water, so that shows that they were too stubborn to care.

Sure, but to say, "don't use neti pot" because some people use it incorrectly is silly. Might as well say, "don't drink lots of fluids" because some people might choose alcohol, caffeine and household cleaning chemicals.

I actually said that to give a quick heads-up warning. I didn't really think twice about it. If you don't like my answer though, then why the heck are you still here? I gave the best tips and advice that I could give, so please stop commenting below my answer.

Taking a non-drowsy allergy pill daily will take the edge off the allergies.
Loratadine (Claratin) used to be what, $1 per pill? Now it's 10 cents.
Seems like a really good deal to me.

I am in the same situation. Not fun! I have 4 meds from my dr and yesterday and today seems to be horrible! I stream my bathroom and take a long hot shower or if I can't because the kids are up running around I will boil water and take it off the stove and stick my head under a towel and just breath in the stream. Hope you get to feeling better soon.
