Solving two step equations in pre algebra, 12-7y=-2 need to find y

Report as

first, move the -2 over to the other side of the equation, by adding two to the other side. meaning, that now you'll have: 14-7y=0. Then, move the -7y to the other side of the equation by adding 7y to the other side, meaning that now you'll have: 14=7y. then, get rid of the 7 on that side of the equation by diving 7y by 7, and dividing 14 by 7, meaning that now you have: 2=y. so if I'm not mistaken, y=2. if you plug 2 into the equation now, you'll see that it's right. because 12-14=-2.

12 - 7y = -2, subtract (12) from both sides
12 - 7y -12 = -2 - 12
-7y = -14, divide both sides by (-7)
(-7y)/-7 = -14/-7
y = 2
That's all :)
