I have comprehensive tenants insurance (better than basic), and a severe roach problem. Are my losses covered for my stuff if I move?
I've had cockroaches for 3 years, the landlord has tried (loosely) to fix the problem to no success. My apartment is clean and I do what I can do make it uninhabitable for the cockroaches to live. When I move, I cannot take anything with me (I have a couple thousand dollars in electronics and a lot of expensive stuff) or the roaches will tag along. Do you think that my insurance company (cooperators) will cover my financial losses for my personal property due to the cockroach problem we moved in to? We were not informed of the problem before moving in. I'm already filing a T6 form for maintenance issues to the landlord and tenant act but I'm not sure if that will provide enough funding to cover my losses.
