Cats actually do understand you, although they are not as intelligent as some dogs, they are bright enough. Additionally they don't slobber all over you, don't make huge messes in the back yard that you have to clear up, don't sniff your private parts or the private parts of some girl you're trying to impress, and don't yap all the time. Cats simply get on with the business of being a pet. They eat, purr and wash. Sometimes, they'll sit on your knee and do all those. They will play with you until about 1 year old, after which they'll treat you like a servant. Dogs are fawning creatures, always wanting approval and pats and strokes and somebody throwing sticks. And they take up a lot of room. And occasionally mangle a cat or another dog or the mailman or the neighbor, costing lots of money and / or a lawsuit.
Dogs are considered better than cats because they will tilt their heads trying to understand every word you say unlike cats. Secondly, dogs give unconditional love unlike cats that make you pay for each mistake you make. Thirdly, dogs will respond when you call them but cats will ignore. Dogs are a man's best friend unlike cats that do not care about human beings.
Dogs are better because they show more love and feelings towards their owners. Cats ( unless they're kittens) sort of ignore their owners. Once in a while they'll show some love though. But dogs make you feel better when your down and they greet you and are always happy to see you when you come home.
I don't choose one animal over another...I love cats, especially kittens, because they are so curious...but I prefer dogs because they are fun to be around...if I would I could have a Cat AND a dog in my house:)
Cats are all forehead, they always have that I-smell-shiza look on their face, too independent... My dogs are my kids. They have compassion, loyalty, dependence... Cats just don't have that same spirit.
I grew up with cats and they have some appeal. I don't hate cats, my only beef with them is they are generally pretty boring and/or arrogant creatures. Dogs can be disgusting, but as gross as they can be, it helps to remember that dog spelled backward is God.
They aren't! We had a dog for 16 years and my husband kept saying he didn't like cats - they don't listen to you but after our dog died we got a cat and my husband is sooo attached to our cat. They all have their own personalities and are a lot of fun too.
I have heard it said that your choice of pet says a lot about the type of spouse you will marry. If you are a dog person, you might prefer a spouse who needs you. Someone who is loyal to you, lonely without you, a spouse that may think about straying for a moment but always know who is master. A cat person may be more inclined to a independent partner. Someone who has other interests. Someone who doesn't depend on you, but at the end of the day knows they can always come to you when they need someone. I have 2 cats btw.
