Serious: can anyone explain why or how it benefits insurance companys to drop thousands of insured ?

Report as

It doesn't. The ObamaCare is a bad thing, very bad. Pray for it to be repealed and defunded. See www.LC.org or www.ACRU.org or http://aclj.org/.

It would be okay if it "truly" were affordable for everyone. But, it doesn't seem to be the case.

So they can buy different plans, that cost more.

Will people go for higher premiums and sign up ?
Report as
No, millions of people have not had health insurance because they couldn't afford it. I know many people who have never had health insurance their entire adult life. (ie 20 years or more) Are they going to suddenly come up with high prices insurance??? ummm....NOOO!!!!!

If the people they drop are a bad risk because they are sickly or old and bound to get sick soon the insurers will not make enough money from insuring them. So they drop them. This is one of the many reasons the US needs single payer universal healthcare. Everyone is in the system and everyone pays for the System unless they are too poor to pay.

Will people sign up with higher prices ? Or will they lose business ?
Report as
The insurance companies would love everyone to sign up and pay more for less. They're not in business to to insure people, they are in the business to make money.
Report as
Exactly horseman. They are hoping some will pay it. But the ones that check into other policies are saving money and getting more benefits from a new plan.

Hi Ladywood. Yes. You're right. This is why we need single payer with everyone paying their fair share for coverage. Honestly, the right wing nuts always talk about taking responsibility and then turn around and act like a bunch of irresponsible children. Everyone knows that we all pay for the uninsured now. But the wing nuts don't want to fess up to the truth and share their responsibility.

Right wing nuts just want to be able to do whatever the hell they want to without bearing any responsibility for living in a civilized society. That is what freedom means to them. In other words, they are like children.

Hillary was for single pay... hmmmm...;)

Yes, she was and she was right.

I was for it then and I'm for it now.

I'll vote for her if she has a decent chance. However, it is imperative that we keep the GOPers out of there. If they get a toehold in the executive office before the tea party infuence wanes, the nation is in biiiig trouble.

Really, they can really just drop people for no explaination? They only want healthy people to pay into it whom won't use it.

How do they get new clients ?
Report as
I think it should be illegal to just "drop" someone for no reason. Same reason it is now illegal to not insure someone for preexisting conditions.

Insurance companies drop people from their policies when they begin to cost too much to insure.

It benefits insurance companies to drop people because that saves them $$$. If someone is a financial risk they can drop them and save money.

It doesn't. The latest ploy of the Obama administration is blaming the insurance companies for doing what Obama Care is forcing them to do.
