Which is better ETNA or Blue Cross for a Medicare gap with mental health problems

Muzzylin,

I recommend that you meet with a licensed health insurance agent. Not all agents can enroll you in all plans so you may have to sit down with a couple different agents to learn about these 2 plans. Tell them on the phone before you meet that you are interested in these two plans. Ask them specifically if they sell them and if they will be able to help you compare specifics of each plan.

I am a licensed health insurance agent in Maine and New Hampshire. And what I do is look at all the plans available and help my clients compare based on their needs. It is not unusual for me to enroll spouses on different plans because each of us have very specific needs, so while one plan may be the best for me it may not be the best one for you.

There are basically 2 types of insurance plans for Medicare beneficiaries. Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C) and Medicare Supplements (MediGap) with an add-on drug plan. You can read more about the differences between these plans at http://www.mainemedicareoptions.com/content/medicare-supplemental-insurance-medicare-advantage-plans

You can also go to Medicare.gov and use the Planfinder tool to find out what plans are available in your area.
