Will war and suffering ever end?

Report as

As long as there are people on this planet ... no. But when the sun goes into it's red giant phase, we'll finally see the end if war on Earth.

Here's food for thought. God foretells of a time when he will establish peace earth wide. Under his kingdom, a heavenly government, people will not "learn war anymore." Instead, they will "beat their swords into plow shares." (Isaiah 2:4)

There is a possibility of war ending once the concept of "need" is eliminated.

Suffering is a natural occurence in some instances, so that is a little harder to eliminate.

That's an interesting point that you've made. God will bring an end to all injustice and suffering, which we understand to stem from the concept of "need". The bible promises: "god will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."-revelation 21:3,4. God foretells of a time when he will establish peace earth wide. Under his kingdom, a heavenly government, people will not "learn war anymore." Instead, they will "bat their swords into plow shares." (Isaiah 2:4)

The nature of warfare is changing but will probably always be with us in some form. Faux News would have us believe there is a "war" on Christmas, for Pete's sake.
Suffering however is part of the human condition, as the Buddha says. We all suffer, if only from the knowledge of our own mortality.

Not until Jesus comes again. This is our hope. Read the last chapters in the Bible and you will see that it all ends well for those who love God and Jesus. Chapter 13 is about the antichrist and all the evil he does, and Jesus comes again in chapter 19 or 20, 21 is about the new Jerusalem coming to earth from Heaven, and 22 is the end.

Peace on earth will come, not by human efforts, but by means of God’s Kingdom, a heavenly government ruled by Christ Jesus.(Matt 6:9,10)

Notice how the Bible teaches us about this wonderful hope:
God will make “wars to cease to the extremity of the earth,” fulfilling his promise to bring “peace on earth to those with whom he is pleased!”—Psalm 46:9; Luke 2:14, Good News Translation.
