How do student credit cards work?

I'm a high school student and I just applied for a credit card? Do I have to pay fees or sign stuff to have a credit? Do I have to have a job? How does it work?

Fees depend on the card you signed up for. Some have fees, some don't. Some have cash back, some don't.

Regardless of what card, there are certain rules:
1. It is a line of credit, meaning you can borrow up to a certain amount they decide.
2. You have to pay that money back. It's not cash, it is a loan. Don't charge more than what you could pay in cash.

In general, you're just wanting to build credit, right? So use the card as minimally as possible. You build credit with LOW balances and paying them off quickly. So just charge 1 or 2 things to the card each month, wait for the statement, and pay the bill in full.

-By paying in full, you don't have to pay any interest.
-One part of your credit score is "credit utilization rate." You want to keep that low, best under 20%. So if your card has a max of $500, don't have more than $100 on it at any one time. Having a utilization rate over 30% actually hurts your credit.
-Your credit history doesn't record the balance each month, it only records if you paid on time or not. So unlike the common myth, you do *not* have to carry debt over month to month.

yes you have to have a parent sign (usually unless over 18). and not really any fees unless you are on a separate plan from your parents. and my brother did it but he is on my parents plan. you just have to have parents and prof of age and all. and you may have a temp one till you have your parents sign.

They are for student fees, they help buy things that students need like paper, pencils, books, but you have to be careful because you always have to pay them back.
