Most people seem to have them out around age 18 +/- 3 years. I had mine out at 19, and all of my friends were around the same time. The Orthodontist noticed that they would have to be taken out when I was about 16., however they were inoperable until I was at least 18 because they needed to finish growing.
I had my taken out junior year of high school so I was 16. I found that it was pretty "trendy" at that age and that most people went through it around the same time. There are a few edge cases where people wait until their early to mid-20's, but I think it's pretty rare and by that age they're almost certainly impacted, which can make the healing process a lot longer and more painful!
I was 18 as well, however, I got mine pulled when they were still impacted which was a bad idea (made the recovery process longer and more painful). Most people end up getting them pulled between the ages of 18 and 24, however, some people never have to get them pulled because they have enough space in their mouth for their wisdom teeth. I would check in with your orthodontist and see when is the best time for you to get them pulled. Good luck!
