i'm not sure if this is the case with you, but sometimes when i work out i get slightly depressed afterwards because of low blood sugar. being depressed may make you feel less self-confident and thus make you feel fat. being properly hydrated and taking a slight snack before working out prevents post-exercise depression

Might have to do with the extra water intake during workout. We naturally drink more water while working out so it would make sense that the body is retaining most of it, especially if your regimen isn't taxing enough.
