You'll have to grit your teeth and deal with some inappropriate bits, but The Catcher in the Rye is one of my favorite books. I read it just last year (aged 16) and I've re-read it multiple times now.

Heard of them, but haven't read any
Report as
Grapes of Wrath is kind of long but interesting, it's about a family living in the 1930's depression traveling to California in search of work. The Thera are on controversial topics like the Cold War but told very creatively
Report as
Hmm, sounds interesting. I'll try to read it.

gone,it is a series, I can't remember the name, it might be the lost series, but the first book is gone. it is really good, unless you don't like blood, gore(and I mean dismemberment blood and gore) destruction, or "mature content" which is seldom and only in the last few...

By far, the best book I've ever read for a teen is Red Sky at Morning by Richard Bradford. My dad introduced it to me at age 12, and at 28 I've read it multiple times. Great read
