No, not at all. We do take care of illegal aliens when they enter the country, fund foreign armies, feed the poor on foreign soil, send containers of US cash to foreign entities but the government all but ignores the vets and the problems they face, whether the problems are physical or psychological. It's disgraceful and embarrassing.
No. I volunteer at the VA twice a week and the veterans I work with are neglected. They are left in bed all day at times, the ones that need to be fed sit and wait while their food gets cold. The Dr in the unit is useless..There is no parking available. The veterans stand in long lines for travel checks. I could go on and on. It makes me want to cry when I see how they are treated.
Absolutely not! The medical services in my area are a joke. If you have more than the common cold you have to travel over 3 hours away to Cincinnati or 4 hours away to Cleveland. I am disgusted by how difficult it is for retired/disabled veterans to receive their military pensions as well. It is extremely difficult and a very lengthy process for widows/widowers to receive their widows pension too. Also, the amount they typically award is so so low! And the death benefits are pathetic. $250 bucks, a flag, flag pole and head stone? Seriously? For someone who risked their lives to keep our country free? I think their service to our country is worth a little more then that!
