If you dig a hole through the center of the earth, come out on the other side, and then let go, would you be falling down or floating up?

Fall down in extreme heat..

falling down, the gravity is toward the center of the earth

You would fall and get stuck in the middle. But when you think about it halfway through digging your hole.... Poof.... ash......

you would come really close to poking your head out the other side, then start falling again, and would continue oscillating, slowly losing momentum and eventually coming to rest in the center

I think it depends on how you look at it!!

You would be falling till your at the midway point of earth. You probably would burn up long before you reach the center cuz it get a little toasty as you get closer to the center of Earth.

You know that the earth and your body attract each other. That is the essence of the gravitational force.

When you do the math, it turns out that for the purposes of gravity, a spherical object with mass like the earth acts as if all of the force "pulls" from the center of the earth.

So you would be falling "down" since the force of gravity pulls you toward the center of the earth.
