Buddhism why did it becomes popular

Report as

I have been practicing self awareness for many years it is the best philosophy I have ever come across for living. A while ago I became aware of an attachment I wasnt aware of and all I can say is............. If you never experience it, self awareness is beneficial in of itself you cannot seek nirvana it will come through self awareness.

If more practiced Awareness there would be more peace in this world. When you are aware of self you are less likely to cause harm to others because you are aware of your emotions thoughts and motivations, where most people are just busy reacting.

For the same reason ANY philosophy becomes popular ... some people are born to parents who follow it + some people look into it, and decide they agree with it

It actually didn't disagree with my conception of reality and only further identified how I look at things then gave a name to such a positive outlook. I suppose others saw this as well.

Buddhism is NOT very popular as a religion, it is practiced by only a limited number of people around the world! Christianity is the biggest and the most famous religion in the world, since it has the most followers and Islam is the second!

Well ... that's because Buddhism isn't a religion.
It's a philosophy that doesn't address whether or not there is a god.

You can be a Buddhist Christian ... a Buddhist Muslim ... a Buddhist Hindu ... a Buddhist Atheist ... etc, etc, etc

I don't think buddists tie themselves to a religion it would go against their principles. If I am wrong and they do they could not argue about it because they are not suppose to identify the self to anything, which then reverts to my first point. If you have no attachments theres nothing people identify themselves with to take offense at.
