What is the best blue-based red lipstick?

I don't often wear lipstick, but for big events, I'll wear red lipstick. I'm pale, and I've learned to stick with blue-based reds, but I can't seem to find any. I currently wear an orange-y red lipstick by L'Oreal (British Red) and I love it, but I would like something that suits me a little more. Any suggestions?

You should go to Sephora and try different shades. They also offer free samples so that you can wear it for a few days. Once you know the right shade you can match it to any brand you want.

ooh, I would not go with Loreal, it's animal tested (all animal testing is inhumane) go with Clinique, they are so much better

The brand is going to depend on your budget. For blue based reds, you want to stick with MAC, Shisedo and Christian Dior. MAC can dry out your lips, but the case is funky. Shisedo is designed for Japanese skin tones so they have fabulous reds. It sounds like this might be more for you. Christian Dior favors european skin tones. They have an excellent lip gloss, too. All three brands have built in lip stains and resist feathering, but are in the $20 and up price range. If you are on a budget, try Wet N Wild. Fergie has a line in this brand that would suit you. Plus, for a buck a tube, you can buy several shades and not have buyers remorse.
