i taught myself for the first year of my guitar playing obsession and it takes time to get everything perfect but first you need to learn the basics, A, B, E, F, G, C, and all of their minors also bar chords will help, what kind of Gtar do you have?
I learned guitar from tablature and picking songs that I could hear. I bought a book 25 years of rock n roll. it taught me some simple basic classic rock songs. hotel california, my sharona, rockin robin, stairway to heaven. mostly all rhythms of these songs but it gave me a foundation of strumming and picking techniques that I was able to combine and turn into my own stuff. good luck and remember that one never masters the guitar and many riffs are the artists own.
Learn your basic chords and play some songs with them. Next, you can learn power chords and play along on YouTube with those. Then you can learn Drop D and C and play heavier songs. Then you get into the pentatonic scale and sweep picking arpeggios.
You can Download Guitar Pro which teaches you songs by tabs or by notes! or you just can watch video tutorials from youtube! but it needs a lot of effort to get trained, by yourself just talking by my personal experience!
You start out with a hollow circle(four foot taps), and every time you add a symbol it gets twice as fast (adding different notes for in-betweens). Its in the front of book. The strings are on the page (for where to put your finger). guitar is a sliding rule regarding finger patterns.
just keep your ear open and become obsessed with learning.its not easy and it doesnt happen overnight.rember this word..."repetition"because sometimes you have to play a scale or a chord many times over to build the muscle memory necessary to play cleanly.with focus and hard work you'll do great.try you tube also for free online lessons
There is a guitar game/guitar app for the PS3 and X-BOX 360...I don't really know the name of it, but the people who made it guarantee's that if you don't learn to play guitar in 60 days or less they'll give you your money back. I hoped this helped
Playing guitar can be difficult when learning from a teacher, So teaching yourself may be easier. First I would recommend learning how to play these chords, G, C, A minor, D, E minor, Cadd9. Then try learning how to play one of your favorite songs. I learned how to play boulevard of broken dreams by Greenday first. Go on YouTube and look up Guitarjamz.com or mahalo.com for some easy videos. After playing long enough to learn the basics, try getting a teacher. You don't know everything about guitar, and there's always more to learn. Hope this helps. ~Levi~
YouTube is the best way. 1st you have to learn major and minor chords (C<D<E<F<G<A<B). then try to practice song with lyrics and chords. finally you can play notes and other chords. learn step by step.
