How does zoloft (anti-depressant) make you feel?
side affects? moods?

I have been diagnosed with severe anxiety. my doctor proscribed me zoloft. I got my prescription filled but, I'm still hesitant to take it. One , because I have a 3 year old to care for. Two I've heard about so many side affects. I know the risk but I would to get rid of my panic attacks. and my constant checking, constant writing , cleaning, irritability.nervousness, and jumping out of my skin feeling. opinons please!

You will get many answers, as many people are under stress in society today. I take Zoloft tho, like you, I don't like the idea. I will tell you it has helped me a great deal! I have depression and because this time of my life is very stressful, I need it. I will get off it when time tells me to. i have no side effects, I do not feel like i am taking it [25 mg a day], It is really helping. Our bodies are lacking a chemical to control emotions and these drugs replace that chemical I believe.
Just take it a night [can also check with your dr on time] and take on a full stomach for the first few weeks.
The first time i tried it [i have used Zoloft in the past] I got such a headache, but, I had not eaten any food....you learn the hard way sometimes lol..Your dr will also monitor you.

My doctor started me on 50 Mgs. I have to take one and a half the first two days. Then one every day. Can I take just half the pill everyday? Will it give me the same affect as to taking the prescribed amount?

Tani, I truly understand your concern. I can't answer that because with drugs, you need to discuss it with your dr. He knows your history. You can, however, ask him as you have asked me.
Maybe you can ask him to start you with 25..that works for me right now. My dr asked me if i wanted a stronger does and i said no. Maybe when my family moves in the summer, yes, but I am dealing with all pretty well right now.
Work with you dr and tell him how you truly feel BUT ZOLOFT HAS BEEN A GODSEND TO ME RIGHT NOW :)You don't have to stay on it forever either. I took it a few years ago, but didn't need it after life calmed down for me.:) God bless

Zoloft also known as Sertraline can be a great help but there are side efects and precautions. It would be wise to read the following:

I just started taking Zoloft. I feel different as I wake early as 6am and feel non-tired. I feel little happy and make me eat more and clean. It does help me to calm and control my emotion when i have a lot stress around me. Plus I have a one year old daughter as Im single mother and work two job. I defenifiy need it for lifetime. I was off for year and my mood was out of control, I know this is not me when im off med but when im on im back to normal.
