The Marines don't seem to me to be a proper military branch. More of a sub branch of the Navy. That is not to say that their contribution is not significant. But it seems to that they get the old red headed step child treatment from mom and dad as it were. It is my understanding for pay and food the Air Force has the best, and the Marines has the worst. So if this holds true, then I would go with the Army. But no matter what you choose, goto college first. The opportunities are much better for you if you do.

Better at what? Fighting wars? Both are awesome, but if you want to attack from a ship, join the Marines, if you wanna come from a plane, join the Army. If you're looking for a short term career, Marines, long term career, Army. They both pretty much do the same thing, they both use tanks, armored personnel carriers, helicopters, etc. Lots of guys do one tour in the Corps, then switch over to the Army because the Army offers more career advancement because it's so much bigger. But, being the smaller unit, the Marine Corps has a more distinct culture, it's a more tight-knit family. If you REALLY want to remove lots of bad guys from this world, join the Air Force and become a Combat Controller (CCT) this is like an Army Green Beret, or Navy SeAL, but his specialty is calling in air strikes on the enemy. Nobody in military kiIIs more bad guys than a CCT and his radio. All service is good service, any branch you choose will be honorable, but do lots of research and figure which one is best for you.
They both have a lot going for them. What I like about Marines is they perform "Embassy security duty". The Marines do a lot of security details. Many White House uniformed Secret Service Police are former Marines.
Army Strong, and rangers lead the way. Im Army completely. what sucked though was i was in Marine ROTC in high school becuase we didn't have Army at my school. I had Sgt. Major Berret. who is now the actully Sergent Major of the Marine Core, Hes and awesome guy. But armys way better. but good luck choosing
As far as great battles, the corps has fought in more decisive battles and kicked more a$$ than the army, and they have been around longer than the army, the corps have been a great place for my son,and I have never been as proud of him the day he graduated basic and became one of the few! Both services have done great things and both have CMH awarded, but I'm hung go all the way! SEMPER FI! Carry on troops!
