Mushrooms on trees I found some good smelling mushrooms growing on a dead poplar near my deck. Can we eat these?

Mushrooms may look edible but it's important to first identify their macroscopic structure. Some of the mushrooms may cause allergic reactions in some individuals. Unless you're very experienced in identifying mushrooms, you shouldn't eat them. Some safe mushrooms can have a similar appearance to poisonous ones.
