How many potential combinations are there with a 10-digit code?

Also is there a formula for finding this?

1,000,000,000 possible if you are talking numbers only. Starting as 0000000000 as your first possible answer and going up to 9999999999 as the last.

It is 10^10
. You multiply 10 for the amount of Digits to put in the code. ( that is if each digit can be a 0-9 )

So the number of spaces times the number of possibilities? For a four-digit code it would be 1,048,576 combinations (4^10), right?
