Isn't mortgage something you have to pay monthly?

Can you please tell me more about mortgage to buy a house?

Yes mortgage is paid monthly like rent but you are investing into your future & don't have to listen to a landlord. Included in your monthly payment include - Principal, Interest & if you have an escrow that includes Taxes & Insurance.
I'm in that business. If you have more questions I'll answer what I can.
You can also have certain payment options, ie: monthly, bi-weekly, b-monthly if your lender allows that. You can also pay more to pay off the principal to decrease the number of years you pay.

Mortgage is a loan that is secured by real property. Mortgage can be re-payed monthly quarterly, half yearly or yearly according to your mortgage broker you deal with. Usually people adopt monthly due to the convenience and low payment. https://www.safebridgefinancial.com/mortgages/mortgage-applications
