A psychic is supposed to predict your future..give you a heads up to any misfortune (or fortune) that lies ahead..I agree that the majority are scam artists but even if they weren't what's the point of going to one...the fascination of life is not knowing what's going to happen next and facing it head on. :-)
By psychic I guess you mean fortune-teller and, if so, keep your money in your pocket. Some are genuine but none are consistently accurate.
However, if you want to include all the peripheral phenomena of ESP that's another field altogether. Mostly when it happens it's just a flash out of the dark. There are ways to improve your ability but it's such a vague field that it's hard to separate the real from the imaginary.
My mother claimed to be clairvoyant but wasn't. She made a lot of accurate "predictions" but only AFTER the event. Even as a child I found her claims ridiculous. "Mom's at it again" sort of thing.
Daizy, on the other hand, is a "before the event" psychic but it happens rarely. The most recent was about 20 years ago when we were going to the airport early one morning. It was dark and, as we approached a blind right-hand bend on a deserted road, she said, "Slow down. There's an echidna around the corner." She was right, and echidnas are rare in Australia -- and she couldn't have glimpsed it in the headlights.
You could write it off to coincidence, but when a number of incidents like that happen (and they have) it gives cause to wonder.
