Sugar in your urine can be a sign of diabetes. Usually if sugar is found in your urine your doctor will order further testing to make sure that you are not diabetic. This is done with a blood glucose test which is much for accurate for testing for diabetes.

If you have a high sugar content in your urine, it means that it is not being processed by your body, which is typically a symptom of Diabetes. When your body cannot process the sugar by your pancreas/insulin, then it is released form the body in your urine.
Having a high sugar content in your urine means that you are not taking enough insulin.
If you have high blood sugar your body will also produce keytones, which are highly toxic. You can get little strips that you urinate on and then compare the color to tell you the quantity of keytones (you can get these at any drug store with the diabetic supplies.)
I believe you can get strips like this that test for sugar content as well.*
(*Note that these will only tell you if you have a low or high quantity of sugar in your urine and should NOT be used to try to test your blood sugar; they are vague and not accurate enough to test your blood sugar.)
