If you want to stop try and find something else to do. There's a lot of other things to do then watch tv. Yeah I know it can be hard. There might just be really good shows on, but distract yourself. Get active in a sport, or a dance team. Start doing fun crafts or find a new hobbie. Do something as simple as going outside. Or call up some friends and hang out. Don't watch other people live their lives on a TV screen. Go learn how to live your own.
I know how you feel, I had that same problem (it is harder to do than to say!) but I solved it by taking my mind off of it, cook something, play a sport, hang out with friends. The number one thing to do is to put a limit you how much time you watch TV. I went from watching hours and hours of TV to 1 hour or less every weekday and less than an hour, an hour or two on weekends. You have to keep yourself busy and then one day, you won't even realise that you own a TV! But don't spend too much time on the computer either!
