Why isn't god looking out for me?

everything in my life sux! except for my gf and our families. is he ever going to answer my prayers? I'm not the best Christian out there but I do have faith in god. but sometimes I feel like he doesn't care about me

Report as

I'm learning to just be thankful for the things I do have in my life. When things go wrong I look at all that I am thankful for. Its all about your attitude. God does care. Draw nearer to Him and He will draw nearer to you.

Life is one big hard mystery. Maybe he is looking out for you but you just don't see it. He has already given you your girlfriend, your family, and everything else that keeps you going! Sometimes prayer makes me feel better when I am down.

Because God isn't real. I'm atheist and my life is like perfect. What kind of God treats the atheists better than his servants haha

Is that an insult to people who wish to believe something that you don't believe in? And just because they have different beliefs you like to persecute them? I am guessing this is fun for you?
Report as
@RedDragoon - If you are atheist then why would you ask a question like that?
Report as
no. Its an insult to a God that treats the heretics better than the adherents. I'm not persecuting anyone, I'm trying to enlighten them or make them think. Is it fun? I love my life.
Report as
Because I have empathy. I can put myself in others shoes without committing to their world view.
Report as
Ok that's rich. Insulting someone who you don't believe exists. I'll bet you have an imaginary friend too.
Report as
I always find it comical when theists imply that I secretly believe haha I can say voldemort from harry potter is a jerk too- that doesn't mean I believe in him lol
Report as
If you believed you would learn why he does this, I don't think the person asking the question knows that. And you said "haha"?
Report as
that "haha" was kinda messed up...
Report as
You first stated, "God isn't real" which of course, you are an atheist but thats not that uh... "good" to do...
Report as
Well I hope your enjoying yourself. You should learn a little more about who God is before you go spouting off. Besides, this person wants an answer from believers, not harassing atheists.
Report as
And not all atheists are treated well, I had a friend who was atheist(strange huh?) and his life wasn't so great.... Actually very bad If I do say so myself...
Report as
I'm not an advocate for God- I'm a critic.
Report as
I see...
Report as
I'm not harassing actually, I'm giving my input. Its only your bad opinion that me being an atheist is "not good." I usually do enjoy myself, I'm a very strong person.
Report as
That is true that not all atheists are treated great, its sort of a testament to a lack of personal cosmic order.
Report as
I've read the bible and the character of God is not someone I'd appreciate in a leadership position. That is why...
Report as
Did you read, A Course In Miracles? It was kind of written by an atheist in a way...
Report as
@RedDragoon - Excuse me? Putting "not good" in quotations like you are quoting me? I love it. Another atheist putting words in my mouth. I never gave any kind of opinion about you being an atheist. You need to come back to reality. Asking questions of God when you don't believe he exists and then criticizing an opinion that was never given. You are very entertaining.
Report as
My question was actually rhetorical and the quotation was from Jeramey.
Report as
I did not read a coarse in miracles but I assure you that no atheist believes in God.
Report as
Ok so enlighten me. What's "Jeramey"?
Report as
its Jeremybuban, whatever his name is.
Report as
Oh ok. I misunderstood.
Report as
When did I say being an atheist was bad?
Report as
or, "not good"?
Report as
I said that you saying "God is not real" is not, "good" to do on this type of question...
Report as
Why is it "not good" Jeremy? God is not real- its never a bad time to say so.
Report as
Not for this type of question...
Report as
Maybe you could have said, "I may not believe in god, but I am sure he loves you very much" or something like that...
Report as
Actually no Jeremy. You are basically telling me how to talk which just isn't ok. That is like me telling you to say "I believe there is a God but I'm sure God isn't real."
This answer is completely appropriate for this question. He asks why God doesn't look out for him so I tell him because there is no God TO look out for him. Its what you do when you realize someone is delusional.

"Why wont this wrench work on my engine?" "Because that's not a wrench, its a Chicken." You see, its only temporary insanity.
Report as
No, I am saying Telling a believer their life sucks because, "God isn't real" and I actually find that quite an argument starter on this type of question.
Report as
@RedDragoon - Just because God isn't real in your life doesn't mean He's not real in other people's lives. Bottom line is, the person who asked the question is a believer and wants an answer from believers. Therefore your answer was no help.
Report as
Actually bottom line is that you can quietly disappear verne. I'll speak my mind where ever I like and say whatever I want especially when I have the answer to someone's question. They asked why God isn't looking out for them and I told them. Just because you believe doesn't mean I have to act like God is real- you definitely don't afford me the same respect. Again, I wont be silenced by oppressive arrogant and stupid people trying to control what I say. YOU need to learn your boundaries.
Report as
Jeremy- I didn't tell him his life sucks. He told me he feels like God is not looking out for him and I told him why.
Report as
@RedDragoon - That's big talk coming from someone at a keyboard you immature foreskin of a tomato slug! I won't be silenced either. You crossed your boundaries along time ago. I'll disappear when I please. I don't need YOU telling me what to do. You expressed your opinion, I have a right to express mine. Even if it's to someone who is lower than an earth worm's belly.
Report as
Actually verne, I was happy to be civil until you told me I have no right to talk because I don't believe in your God. Now you know what it feels like when people say you don't have the right to talk. Doesn't feel good does it?
Report as
I'm baaaaaack! :P
Report as
I never said you didn't have a right to talk. NOWHERE in my statements did I say that! Calling me arrogant and stupid is being civil?! What planet are you from? I'm not trying to make enemies here. Just expressing an opinion just as it's everyone's right here.
Report as
and if you are saying that I crossed the line by denying God then you crossed the line by protesting he is real. This is not an atheist or Christian world, it can only exist as a secular one or a world at war.
Report as
@RedDragoon, your description creeps me out.....
Report as
Actually you did verne. When you said "Bottom line is, the person who asked the question is a believer and wants an answer from believers. Therefore your answer was no help."

Whether you want to accept how deeply offensive your statement was or not, I will not respond how you demand me to. When you tell people that "they only want religious answers" you are attempting to silence me and when you do that, you get an enemy. Its your choice how long that lasts.
Report as
Jeremy- its only meant for certain people to understand and feel- maybe its talking to you.
Report as
I didn't say that. You crossed the line when you got insulting. And I don't agree with you. In my opinion the world does not have to live secularly. Especially when there are whole countries that are strictly Christian nations.
Report as
yeah chef don't judge! dananana!
Report as
Those "strictly Christian nations" are cesspools of AIDS, violence, child murder and bullying. If you'd like to live in South Africa go right ahead but if you burn a witch on my block I'll give you a Columbian neck tie after a a trip to the darkest place a human can go.
You are the one who crossed the line when you tried to silence me and play it off as your religious right.
Report as
When did I do that?
Report as
Not you Jeremy.
Report as
I just said your answer didn't help. Did I say "You shouldn't have answered the question"? No I didn't That was not an attempt to silence you. I tell people all the time that their answer didn't help. AGAIN, it's only an opinion which is my right to express. AGAIN, you're putting words in my mouth. I never DEMANDED anything from you. If you took it the wrong way, TOO BAD! As far as making choices is concerned. I don't have to. You've obviously made the choice already.
Report as
AGAIN, Big talk from someone at a keyboard. I don't believe in burning witches.
Report as
Yes it was an attempt to silence me. You were making a statement that my answer didn't help ie doesn't belong ie may as well not have said it ie you don't want me to say it ever again ie you are making a statement that is objectively true about the proper place for my words ie attempting to silence me.

The way you told me my answer didn't help was exactly the way someone tries to silence another person. You were implying that it is disqualified and doesn't count whether you used those terms or not. DON'T do that again if you don't want backlash like this.

You were demanding that I lie down and take your claims as if they are fact- I refuse your demands, am offended by them and threw them back in your face. That is your fault for being ignorant of how offensive you are.
Report as
Why are you blowing this out of proportion? You don't need to tell me mister! I know what I meant! No implications were indicated! If you took it the wrong way, TOO BAD!!! BACKLASH ALL YOU WANT!! I'LL STAND AGAINST THE BEST OF THEM!! BRING IT!!!

You're the one that's ignorant! Have you considered anger management? I've set many up for it as an ordained minister. I'd be glad to send you the link. Keep on insulting me. I can take it.
Report as
I didn't ask to be proselytized to. You came onto MY answer to tell me I was wrong. If you don't want to face the fruits of your labor then stop the labor and we can get on to more useful tasks. Maybe you are not educated enough to realize the implications of statements but that doesn't excuse you. If you are a cog in the machine of someone else's agenda then the suffering you extract from people like me is your own responsibility for you ignorance. I'm blowing nothing out of proportion here. You need to understand that words mean things and whether you meant what you said or not, you said it. If you don't, well then expect more of this in the future.

God works in mysterious ways. God brought you to it, he'll bring you through it. It's entirely up to YOU to do what it is you want to do to turn your life around. Take that leap of faith and be the change you want the world to see. He's with you every step just as he is with billions of others. If you want to change something you don't like about your life, do it. You have your family and your girlfriends support and you should be thankful of that. Hope this helps :)!

Sorry, because this is gonna be a little lengthy...
My philosophy teacher told my class this story the other day:
"There was a man whose wife died while they were still young, at her funeral everyone in their town gathered to tell him how sorry they felt for him. But, the man simply answered 'It is God's will. Wether it is a good thing or a bad thing, only time will tell.' A few years later the man married the most beautiful woman in town, and all the men gathered at the wedding to tell the man how lucky he was to have a wife like her. He simply responded 'It is God's will. Wether it is a good thing or a bad thing, only time will tell.' The next year the man's wife died giving birth to their son and once again the town gathered to express their empathy for the man but he simply responded 'It is God's will. Wether it is a good thing or a bad thing, only time will tell.' Twenty years later the man risked losing his house due to debt. His son (who by now was a 20year old young man who was the picture of physical and mental health) came up with the idea to till their rocky, uneven land and grow grapes for wine. The man begged his son not to till the land due to the dangers of the physical labor required, an they could not afford to hire any help. The young man (as many young men do) disobeyed his father and tilled the land anyways. In the process injuring his leg to the point that he could never walk without a cane again. The men of the town gathered to tell the man how sorry they were that his strapping young son would never walk right again, and the man simply responded 'It is God's will. Wether it is a good thing or a bad thing, only time will tell.' And in the following years the wine business was booming and the man and his son were the wealthiest people in the town. The town was constantly telling him how he was so lucky to have so much wealth and he simply said 'It is God's will. Wether it is a good thing or a bad thing, only time will tell.' Then all the young men in the town were drafted to serve in a war, but the man's son was not taken due to his leg. The men of the town grieved for their sons while telling the man how he was lucky his son did not have to go. And the man, again, said 'It is God's will. Wether it is a good thing or a bad thing, only time will tell.' Many years later the man became quite ill and was lying in his deathbed. The people of the town gathered to express their sorrow and the man said 'It is God's will. Wether it is a good thing or a bad thing, only time will tell.'"
In short, you never know what a seemingly good or bad thing will lead to in the future. So don't be so quick to judge the things that happen in your life.

Remember: " And remember, when someone wants to do wrong it is never God who is tempting him, for God never wants to do wrong and never tempts anyone else to do it."
( James 1:13) Living Bible It is not God's will for bad things to happen to us. It's choices we make, affect our lives. If we make poor choices, we have to suffer the consequences.
And to add to that: "Again I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to the men of skill;
But time and chance happen to them all." ( Ecclesiastes 9:12) Revised Standard a Bible. Things happen to all of us, just depends how you look at them. And don't worry about what other people say, even if they say they are having a good life without God. This is the internet, people can say and do things to make them look good. "The fool, says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good." (Psalms 14:1) New

God is looking out for you but your chouces are your choices. He kets all of us experience the consequences of our choices, good or bad. If your life sux then perhaps you need to taje a very close look at yourself and the choices you are making in life. God is not our magic genie. If we choose to live against His will He is under no obligation to then take away the natural consequences of your personal freely made choices. Do you put God first in your life ir just go about doing anything you want? Do you treat others well? Do you honir you parents? Study Gods word and spen time with Him? Go to church? Spend quality time with other Christians? Live life as best you can to be pleasing to God? Are you charitable toward others? Are you honoring God in your relationship with your girlfriend? Etc.
Im going to guess the answer to most of these is a big fat 'NO'. Your language and the hostile petulence of the tone if your question indicates a negative answer. So instead of blaming everyone including God for your problems maybe definately you need to look to the real problem - YOU. If you choose to make choices that dishonor God and choose to live in a way that dishonors Him without even making an attempt to live His way He is under no obligation to listen or answer you. Certainly He is under no obligation to answer your prayers the way YOU want them answered. He answers accirding to His own will inky. If He is listening then its very likely His answers have been 'sorry, but no' or 'not until you remember Me for something other than worldly desires'.

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"

The Lord replied,
"The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you."

Life isn't fair- something every adult needs to learn at some point. And the things you get in this life are things you WORK for- stop sitting back and relying on some magical deity to do things for you and make it better yourself.

The thing I've noticed about most people in the US who say their life "sucks"- it doesn't. Are you being abused? Are you homeless or starving? So poor you can't afford even the basic necessities of life? Tormented at school to the point where you are considering suicide?
If not, then you're suffering from "first world problems".

God is looking out for you everyday by giving you breath and life! While the bible at
Psalm 65:2 calls God 'the hearer of prayer'. Our prayers must be in harmony with God's will. So you may want to pray for God's direction in your life, remembering we were not given the ability to direct our lives without God (Jeremiah 10:23 and Proverbs 3:5,6). But also remember that because you are a Christians, Satan 'who is misleading the entire inhabited earth' (Revelation 12:9) also puts pressure on you to conform to his ways like the rest of the world. Take comfort in the fact that as you 'draw closer to God, He will draw closer to you' (James 4:8).

The Bible, an ancient book of wisdom, provides answers to life’s important questions and can help you to feel better and have a sense of well-being. As our Creator, God knows what we need to feel good and to find fulfillment in life.

Rather than portraying God as aloof from mankind, the Bible says: “He is not far off from each one of us.” (Acts 17:27) He is interested in what happens to you and wants to help you succeed in life.—Isaiah 48:17, 18; 1 Peter 5:7.

Millions of people have found that building a friendship with God has improved their overall well-being and shown them how to feel good about their lives. While knowing God will not make your life trouble-free, his wisdom found in the Bible can help you to:
Have a happier family life. Enjoy peace with others. Deal with problems as varied as depression, stress about money, and chronic illness.

God will welcome your efforts to get to know him, for the Bible says: “Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you.”—James 4:8.

How do you know he isn't helping you in ways you just aren't aware? God is not to be confused with a magic genie to make wishes upon and then feel ignored when they don't soon come true. Bad things exist and happen, God works bad things together for good according to the Bible. Sometimes people don't see that good until later because they are so focused on the present bad, sometimes they don't notice it at all but it doesn't mean it isn't there. It's also easy to feel sorry for yourself, but there is ALWAYS someone who has it much worse, be grateful for what good things even if they are only few and little you have in your life. When you say thank you for what you have, God says you're welcome in unexpected ways. Just my take. I'm not a strong Christian either, and parts of my life suck too, and I'm definitely not perfect, but like that 80's song "you gotta have faith, faith, faith... No one said it was easy. I get frustrated too and want to throw in the towel on life, but remember it doesn't matter how slowly you go forward as long as you keep going! If you don't like how life is right now be patient it WILL change. Change is constant.

SECR3TSTAR I'm sorry you feel that everything is going badly for you. But trust that God is not the cause. Look at what the Bible says in James 1:13 “When under trial, let no one say: ‘I am being tried by God.’ For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone.” (James 1:13) Suffering can afflict anyone—even those who are favored by God. So no, just knowing that God cannot be tried with evil things he is not the cause for your suffering. Trust in him and continue to pray. The fact that you said you have faith lets him know that you want want to search for him and get his help. That is called Spiritual dryness. God is always there and sometimes what we want and what God allows are 2 different things. God does allow us our free will also. Well, there are few reasons for which one doesnt receive what they pray for:

1. not having faith.

2. not praying for what you should pray.

3. not being ready for what you pray.

4. not praying right.

5. Jesus said ''exchange your yoke with mine''. You pick up Jesus s work, and He will pick yours. You pick His life, and He will pick yours. How to do that? Start talking to people about God. Of course, before you do, you gotta know Him very well, and not let the doubts separate you from Him. That is the shield of faith, as it says on Ephesians 6. And dont worry about the doubts, because sooner or later, God will give you the answers. Also, pray to God so that the Holy Spirit may lead you on what to say and what to do in the correct moment.

6. faith without work is dead says the second chapter of James. If God gives you the chance to take it, then take it.

7. maybe God is testing your faith by making you wait, while at the same time, you learn patience. That s why tests are good, they make us grow.

8. maybe what you re asking for is something too big, and you re not giving God the amount of time that such petition requires, or the level of intensity in prayer. Jeremiah 33:3 says ''Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not''. Tho, in other versions, it says '' Cry to me''. In my spanish version, it says that, but cry as in the way of crying for help.

9. Maybe God wants you to understand something else and is waiting for you to talk with Him instead of just asking Him your petitions. And so you and Him may get to know each other better, and so you may get to know yourself better.

10. Do you have a personal relationship with God?

I put all these, and I m sure there are few or many I left out. Idk which might be the one that applies to you
