How do you get the hood open on a 2001 Jeep Cherokee when it comes off under the hood?

The hood release cable came off under the hood at the end of the cable.

This will take a coat hanger and some good manageability. Form a hook on the end of the coat hanger and get down low to see if you can locate the cable to the mechanical arm that releases the hood latch. It will take some time to get a hold of it but it can be done.

Lay down on the ground and look up through the engine compartment with a flashlight. You should be able to reach the release cable/latch with your hand. If not, try using a coat hanger.
