Ohh, could be flea diet! (flea poop) check the cat for fleas, do you have a flea comb? Makes it pretty easy. Also check places like the belly and by where the black dirt is, good luck! Ask if you have any questions about it ask and I'll try to answer

How old is he? My older cat (Asia) was abandoned by her mother at 2wks old and when I got her (at about 3 weeks old, her other owners couldn't keep her and were about to release her outside because they thought if you do that she would find her mother, but I knew that would not happen so I rescued her) she was covered in fleas, and too young for any flea treatment so I used the blue dawn dish soap treatment and it worked amazingly well! (She's 3 now :)) I am not sure if it would work on an older kitten though. If you do this please research how to do it first! And it would be best to ask his vet what he recommends, flea treatment would probably work much better though since it is made for that, I jut had to use the soap before because it's all I could use, but it is not easy at all and cats usually hate baths! Good luck :) hope this helps

Its most likely flea dirt. You should take the kitten to your vet and get a quality treatment. Don't use the stuff you can get at the pet store, its toxic to kittens.

The kitten went under the bed or somewhere in the dust, guess not under the house, right? Oh, I think it's flea eggs. Brush it out before they hatch.
