"Illusion'' is just not the right word, maybe ''expansive'', ''nebulous'' or 'out there'. Stars that are billions of light-years away (found by looking at the light that left them billions of years ago) are just like our solar system and earth. By analysing the signal we see them with, scientists have found that. There are hundreds of billions of galaxies, and there are hundreds of billions of stars in each galaxy in the universe, and some think ''the observable universe'' is 150 billion light-years across. A light-year is the - distance - light travels in a year, at 186, 324 mps, that's very far. So, you see, it's just very big, nebulous.
Well it is impossible to know whether or not the Universe is a simulation. The only thing we know is that we are real. I know I think, so I am real, but everyone else might be a computer program. your question is not answerable.
It's never ending. It's purely magnificent, I can just sit here and think of the universe everyday, pondering how it works, what's inside it, etc. Think of a circle. That one line is connected, it's never ending, it just keeps running and running ... O
What people don't realize, or seemingly care about, is that the endless universe also is endless in the small direction rather than just out there forever. The microscopic universe goes on forever. So "size" doesn't matter, nor does time.
The timing of this question is interesting because, about the time you asked it, Jebidiah Crackercorn answered another question by confessing that he's a solipsist -- that is, nothing exists except himself. Not you, not me, not this Earth we live on, not the Universe.
So, by Jeb's philosophy, YES the universe is an illusion -- but it's the only illusion we've got, so enjoy it while you can.
Universe is not an illusion. it is reality. it is part of physical reality. Universe is PHYSICALLY real. we can see it and we can describe it.
This physical universe is speaking to us without a word. it is saying something without audible sounds. it is teaching us something even without voice heard.
do you know what the universe is trying to say? and teach us?
let us read,
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.
3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard
see? the heavens DECLARE THE GLORY OF GOD, and the firmament sheweth his handywork, Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge, THERE IS NO SPEECH NOR LANGUGE, where VOICE IS NOT HEARD.
if you look at the universe, there is something uavoidable,

That's a great philosophical question. It's something tht us as humans will probably never know. When I think of this, I also think of the wonders of our world or universe, like the possibility of a god, what justice really is, do we live in a constructed reality? I think of things like these. It keeps ppl like scientist busy, the unknown can be a very mind boggling, yet beautiful thing .
