What would be the best Tablet for kids ages 5-10?

An IPad would be ideal, but I'm not spending that kind of $$$. Would like to get something for gaming, learning and browsing.

The best tablet for kids ages 5 - 10 is the Kindle Fire tablet. The tablet is appropriate for kids ages 5 - 10 because it will allow them to read their favorite children's story books in a digital format. None-kids that age are not responsible enuff for such an expensive toy. Kids need to learn to think WITHOUT the help of electronic gadgetry. Your kids can't pick up a REAL book to read? Your kids can't learn from you or their teachers? That's really sad.

WOW. FYI: My child gets straight A's. I was looking for something to reward her for the great job she does in school and help introduce her to the world of technology in a responsible way. I thought a tablet would be a lot better than a gaming system. Thanks for your nagativity!

I don't think Jeni was asking you to blast her! My kid gets straight A's as well and I too am looking for a tablet for my 6yr old. If you're not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. Don't leave nasty comments on other peoples blog because you don't agree!

Jadesmama, my child reads real books with pages every night with me and we still are looking into a tablet for her that is educational. Welcome to 2012, if you kid is not with the technological world we like in for both educational and human communication, they are going to be disadvantaged.

I agree totally with Jaba23 I am looking for a tablet for my 7 year old to compliment his learning, not detract from it.

Children can really benefit from the progression of technology especially children with autism. http://goo.gl/8HFMm
