As for protecting your sued shoes from water damage, if they have gotten wet for some reason, dry them off immediately, and spray the shoes with a sued and leather protectant, and let dry completely before wearing.

This depends on the type of material the shoe is made from. Thin leathers and delicate leathers such as suede need special waterproofing materials that are readily available. Heavy leather shoe may also be water proofed using special products just for this purpose. If all else fails use plastic wrap as a last resort. Stay dry.
