Yes it has. But think about this. It has been over commercialized for quite some time now. Probably before you were born. I think it's fine to give a lot of gifts, as long as there well thought out and personal. You don't have to spend a lot if you just take some time and think about the person your getting it for.
Yes, Christmas has become to commercialized whereby it has become more of a holiday and not because of the religious belief. Also the holiday has gotten involved with too much business oriented holiday taking advantage of Santa Claus and its true meanings.
Not being a Christian I can't honestly answer that one but I think commercialized Christmas is mildly disturbing. I mean a middle age white guy that watches kids while there sleeping, *shudders* but hey there's presents so I'm not complaining.
Also not being Christian, yes! When retailers' well-being depends on how much they sell Christmas time, yes. It begins before Thanksgiving now. When my kids were growing up, I told them they were given 8 presents (supposed to be small ones) instead. If they wanted to celebrate Christmas, they went to their friends' house to do so and they did! In all religions, it's being with friends and family. It shouldn't be about getting in debt the entire year for one day.
I really don't care. Nothing will ever take away MY holiday spirit! People complain about Christmas having been turned into a way to make lots of money, but isn't that one of the most important parts of religion, to make money?
Of course... but "we" buy into it and allow the stores to have these outrageous and dangerous shopping days and we are ok with Christmas music in October!!! Really? I'm sick of "Happy Holidays" ... Christmas is my holiday and I say Merry Christmas, if you don't like it, too bad. No one is putting a gun to anyone's head to celebrate the birth of the Lord. Celebrate however you want, just quit ruining my holiday! Christ is the reason for Christmas, so if you don't celebrate him... you don't celebrate Christmas... period!
Christmas is overly commercialized. I am not christian, though i see christmas things everywhere, and my father's side is christian, so i know people can get crazy about gifts. I also think that since santa clause has been made up by coca-cola (based off the true story of saint nick), christmas has been filled with mishap and propaganda. People seem to forget what the holiday is about, the christian holy day, the birth of Christ. And... @atsandwich, that's not true
yes!! We have gotten away from what X-mas really means. Greed will take over the world, and gifts aren't the most important thing about X-mas. To me it's about family, food, togetherness, giving thanks, being happy and spending time with family and friends!!

People have forgotten what Christmas is all about just like Easter. They call it the Holiday Season and Spring Break. They dont allow God in our schools and government. Let something bad happen and look who the first person they call on is. All people have freedom of speech, freedom of religion and other freedoms afforded us by the Constitution of The United States. What gives anyone or group to take this from us. If you dont believe then dont participate but dont try taking that right of the ones that do believe. Our right are as important to us as non believers are to them. We need to get this country back on the grounds and beliefs it was built on.
Becoming? It's all about getting the biggest and the best piece of crap this year so you can buy another one with only slight modifications and upgrades next year. The true meaning (giving to others) God gives us his son (even though we don't deserve him) so he can die for our sins. It is a time to rejoice in the coming of the lord. It is about family, and friends and togetherness not 100" 3-d high definition TV's, or ipads with a few gig of memory.
yes it is beginning to be one of the most commercialized holidays of the year the children are being spoiled instead of being with their family "Here sweetheart have this iPhone" "Thank you but I already have 2 "it makes me sick simply sick
heck ya! The CHRISTmas season has become two whole months of black friday shopping - i can't walk through the dollar store without getting trampled! Also, people seem to forget that christmas is about thinking of others, not what others will think of you based on what gift you give! What is this world coming to?!
YES! to me Christmas means, faith, love, peace on earth, and most of all JESUS CHRIST! not killing others to get a gift, seeing how much money you can spend every year, or feeling like crap cuz you dont have gifts under the tree...people need to get back to the true meaning of Christmas :-) God Bless

Yes, Christmas has been very commercialised. Many businesses are made or broken by sales at the holiday season and this is why the big push for advertising. But despite all the advertising hype, Christmas is still my most favorite time of the year.
I send to all, a happy and joyous Christmas and may you have the very best New Year ever! Sincerely mamatembo53 : D
understatement of the century! people have lost the real meaning of Christmas a LONG TIME AGO! I would love it if we would not give presents (yes you heard me correctly NO PRESENTS) and get back to being with our family and friends. Gather around the table at a SIMPLE dinner not a big fancy meal that would feed a small country. Keep Christmas SIMPLE and family oriented. Who wants a tree up in the middle of the summer?
Stop all the hoopla and stress that people seem to concentrate on and distracts them from the meaning of Christmas. NO Santa, Rudolph, Frosty, Mickey Mouse, Grinch, Charlie Brown, Macy parade etc
We need to get back to the baby in the manger what Christmas is about not any of that other junk! All that other wouldn't be here if it wasn't for that baby. People forget about that or don't want to even talk about that part.
We aren't even going to discuss those wanting to change everything to being PC! I for one do NOT CARE what "they" say I'm not changing as it is MERRY CHRISTMAS! Those that choose not to say it should stop celebrating the holiday IMHO. That is all I have to say about that.
Positively yes Stores put up display's before halloween People forget the real reason we celebrate Christmas and that is a Saviours Birthday who came into this world with Love and caring for people He had no preference in skin color nor what religion we practice He died and suffered and rose again for one reason and one reason only To build a mansion for Believers Dont Forget Jesus is the reason and without Christmas there would be no Easter So remember Keep Christ in your Mas

Astandwich has it all wrong. Making money is one of the least important parts of religion. Maybe your religion just cares about making money, but mine sure doesn't. Being a Catholic, Christmas is mostly about when Jesus was born. A little bit about being with your family. Right on, bigjim434!
It is obvious that Christmas has been too commercialized for many decades. Without realizing it, we have become slaves to the commercial machine.which is driven by corporate greed. We are constantly brainwashed into believing that giving a gift of the latest, greatest, trendy gadget or toy makes us better gift givers and ultimately, better people. The sad part is that we are willing participants, compliant to the rules of the game.
Yes I really don't think the real meaning of Christmas is there, I don't think the idea of giving gifts at a certain time of the year is bad, but don't mix it with Christ birthday. Just let the kids and others have a nice gift giving day.
When we are told NOT to say "Merry Christmas" to another person because they may find it offensive, what do you think? I HAVE the Right to say it. Commercialized? Government? Example: A friend of mine has 3 married children, her dilemma > What to get each couple with a $1000.00 EACH (couple - total 3000.00, glad for her) Personally my total for all is 600.00. And stores (economy) has gone up so much, it's become "money money money!! Where is Christ birth in all of this???
Yes it has . All this spending and lights and all the rest of the decorations, although very pretty and I enjoy every minute of them We have lost the true meaning of what Christmas is all about. What if nobody bought gifts and just decorated an angel in their homes and spent time going to church or worshiping God and remembering the true reason we have this holiday in the first place? I guess to many businesses would go out of business. Lets get back to the true Christmas of celebrating Christ's birthday.
Does a bear shit in the woods? Jeez, I'm becoming an anti-Christmas scrooge because of these greedy jack-ass retailers jamming their Holiday pitches at us 24/7 starting in Oct or earlier. I'm an independent, educated thinker capable of forming my own thoughts and opinions, but its impossible not to be brainwashed by this Holiday diarrhea spewed from every source of media, brainwashing us to forget what Christmas is supposed be about other than a pissing contest of who can waste the most money.
Yes it totally has, christmas is extremely over commercialised. Instead of being about Jesus Christ, god and family it has been manipulated and changed to become about Santa, presents and greed. The true mean of Christmas has been lost. People are trying to rid it of its religious roots and mould it into a holiday where money has taken over, abbreviating the name to x-mas and posting 'Santa' everywhere! Shops and businesses are pushing christmas earlier and earlier to the point where as soon as Halloween is over it's all about Christmas! This is so wrong!
