You must have never played video games before :D Of course they're addictive. You know how phones and similar forms of technology are always in people's faces because they can't live a moment without them? That's how video games work.
I could take an hour explaining game compulsion (because addiction isn't quite the right word), but ask has a character limit, so I won't. Check out a little show called Extra Credits. They're a show that normally talks about game design and how games work on the human level, and it's incredibly well-written. They did a three (In the first part, he says two, but they made a follow-up) part series about game addiction. Here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5RSngCFpsc
If it's fun. But yes, been playing video games since was 8. That included the game cube with Zelda, Mario Cart, Super Smash Bros Brawl. Then I tried Playstation and Xbox, which I soon just stuck with Xbox because I was more comfortable and better with it. Been going on ever since:)
Depends. Most people get addicted to shooters and building games such as call of duty and Minecraft. But some games people don't get addicted as badly to are metal gear solid, halo, command and conquer games, Elder Scrolls, etc. how we get addicted? No one knows for right now, but my guess is because people like being in a new world. A world where if you die, you can just respawn. A world where you can do many things that you could not do in real life like punch a tree for wood or find a missile launcher and go all crazy with it or even a world where YOU are the boss. You are the man. Because most of the time, those things don't happen in real life. Especially punching trees. LOL.
